A RESOLUTION FINDING-THAT CERTAIN WEEDS
GROWING ON PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD CONSTITUTE A PUBLIC NUISANCE
AND DIRECTING THE SUPERINTENDENT OF
STREETS TO DESTROY SAID WEEDS.
WHEREAS, on Monday, October 6, 1969, a public hearing
was held before the City Council in order to determine if the weeds
on the 'properties in the City of Bakersfield, designated on the
attached list marked "Exhibit A"', had become a 'public nuisance,
and
'WHEREAS, the owners of said property were duly notified
of the time and 'place of said hearing in accordance with the
requirements of Section 8.80 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code,
and
WHEREAS, the owners of said 'property being duly noticed
had an opportunity to a'ppear before the Council and be heard on
this matter, and ample opportunity was allowed said 'property owners
to remove or cause said weeds to be removed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
City of Bakersfield'as follows:
SECTION 1.
THAT the City Council finds and determines that the
weeds existing upon the 'properties named on the attached list
(Exhibit A) constitute a public nuisance.
SECTION 2.
THAT the Superintendent of Streets of the City of
Bakersfield is hereby directed to 'proceed with the work of abating
said 'public nuisance 'pursuant to the 'provisions of Section 8.80
of the Bakersfield Munici'pal Code.
SECTION 3.
THAT the Superintendent of Streets of the City of
Bakersfield is hereby directed to send a registered or certified
letter to the property owners whose names appear on the'attached
list informing them that the weeds on their pro'perty have been
declared a 'public nuisance 'and will be removed at their expense by
the City of Bakersfield or some other Iparty with whom the City
contracts, 'provided said weeds have not been removed to the satis-
faction of the Street Superintendent Iprior to the arrival of the
City's crews or contractor to do the work.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
'passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 6th day of October, 1969, by
the following vote:
