HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 90-69RESOLUTION NO. 90-69 A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD REQUESTING THE CALIFORNIA STATE HIGHWAY COMMISSION TO ESTABLISH THE ROUTE OF FREEWAY 65 BETWEEN AVENUE 32 AND FREEWAY 99. WHEREAS, State Highway 65 is included in the California Freeway System, and WHEREAS, that 'portion of State Highway 65, from Avenue 32 in Tulare County to its intersection with Freeway 99 in Kern County, has not been designated as the official Freeway 65 route, and WHEREAS, 'properties along both sides of Highway 65 between Avenue 32 and Freeway 99 are being rapidly developed, with extensive changes in land use from dry farming to orchards, and WHEREAS, Highway 65 is 'presently a major link between Southern California and the Sequoia National Forest, Sequoia National Park, Mineral King, and Kings Canyon National Park, and WHEREAS, increasing volume of tourist and recreation travel on Highway 65 is a certainty, and WHEREAS, it is to the advantage of both the State of California and 'property owners to 'protect the 65 Freeway route, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that necessary steps be taken without delay to officially establish the. route of Freeway 65 between Avenue 32 and Freeway 99. o0o I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was 'passed and adapted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held on the 22nd day of September, 1969, by the following vote: AYES: COUNCILMEN BLEE-KER, HEISEY, REES, RUCKER, STIERN, VETTER, WHITTEMORE NOES: COUNCILMEN: ~ A E .
