HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 53-69RESOLUTION NO. 53-69 A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA URGING ALL STATE AND FEDERAL AGENCIES INVOLVED TO WORK FOR THE AUTHORIZATION OF THE EAST SIDE DIVISION OF THE CENTRAL VALLEY PROJECT AS THE TOP PRIORITY FEDERAL RECLAMATION PROJECT IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA. WHEREAS, the East Side Division of the Central Valley Project is designed to bring an additional 1,500,000 acre feet of supplemental water to supply lands south of the American River along the east side of the San Joaquin Valley; and WHEREAS, there are increasing deficiencies in local water supplies, both surface and underground, in this area; and WHEREAS, there are substantial recreational, fishery and flood control benefits as well as agricultural and municipal benefits to be realized through early construction of this project; and WHEREAS, the Secretary of Interior has transmitted the East Side Project Report to the State of California and the affected federal agencies for their comments; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Bakers field does hereby urge all State and Federal agencies involved to work for the authorization of the East Side Division of the Central Valley Project as the top priority Federal Reclamation project in the State of California. o0o I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held on the 2nd day of June, 1969, by the following vote: AYES: COUNCILMEN B,I~I~R, HEISEY, REES, RUCKER, STIERN, VE'ITER, WHI"ITEMORI= NOES: COUNCILMEN: 72~ ABSENT COUNCILMEN: ~ ABSTAINING COUNCILMEN: 'Z72,~-/yt...¢.,_,~ Council of the City of Bakers field APPROVED:
