RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD DIRECTING THE CITY PLANNING
COMMISSION TO SELECT THE BOUNDARIES OF
THE EMPIRE SQUARE REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT
AREA WITHIN THE DESIGNATED REDEVELOPMENT
SURVEY AREA AND TO FORMULATE A PRELIMIN-
ARY PLAN FOR THE REDEVELOPMENT OF THE
PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the California Community Redevelopment Law
authorizes the City Council of the City of Bakersfield to designate
redevelopment survey areas within the City of Bakersfield, California
to determine the feasibility of a redevelopment project or projects
within such areas; and
WHEREAS, by its Resolution No. 103-67, the City Council
on December 26, 1967 designated such a redevelopment survey area;
and
WHEREAS, Section 33322 of the California Community
Redevelopment Law provides that the Planning Commission shall select
one or more project areas comprised of all or part of a redevelop-
ment survey area'at the direction of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council feels that a redevelopment
project within the redevelopment survey area is in the best interest
of the City and desires that such a project be initiated:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT
1. The City Council of the City of Bakersfield hereby
directs the City Planning Commission to select the boundaries for
the proposed Empire Square Redevelopment Project, which boundaries
are shown on the Preliminary Plan'Map attached hereto as Exhibit
"A" and incorporated herein.
---2.- -The City .~uncil.. further directs the City Pla-nning
Commission to formulate a preliminary plan for the redevelopment
of the proposed Empire Square Redevelopment Project area in
cooperation with the Bakersfield COrf~f~unity Redevelopment Agency,
and to submit the preliminary plan to said Agency for the prepara-
tion of an official redevelopment ~lan for the proposed project.
3. This action by the City Council shall not be con-
strued as Council approval of any phase 1 Report or portions thereof,
submitted to the Council by Empire.~ Square Associates, Inc.
The City Clerk shall= certify to the adoption of this
resolution.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 12£h day of May, 1969, by the
following vote:
