"TRY KERN COUNTY FIRST RESOLUTIOi~'
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Bakersfield, County
of Kern, State of California, is vitally concerned with the Pro-
tection and expansion of Kern County's assets and resources through
industrial and economic growth; and
WHEREAS, the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce has
initiated a County-wide program called "TRY KERN COUNTY FIRST" which
is aimed at retaining monies being spent by County inhabitants for
goods and services outside of Kern County; and
WHEREAS, the specific message of the Try Kern County First
program encourages each County citizen, when shopping to "Try" his
local area first and then another community within the County before
actually making a purchase is quite fair as long as the general
factors remain equal when comparing Kern County's goods and services
with another County's; and
WHEREAS, the valuable tax dollar which is spent inside
the County and which goes to work helping build roads, schools and
other capital items is brought about by each and every citizen who
by purchasing within Kern Countyparticipates in this non'contro-
versial, non-political program; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Bakersfield, County
of Kern, State of California, has been given sufficient evidence
to justify the effectiveness of the Try Kern County First program;
NOW, THEBEFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Bakersfield, County of Kern, State of California, that the pro-
gram "TRY KERN COUNTY FIRST" be given wide and full support by all
citizens of Bakersfield, especially by those persons in positions
of leadership where it might do the most good.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at
a regular meeting thereof held on the 24th day of March, 1969,
by the following vote:
