A RESOLUTION OF THE BAKERSFIELD CITY COUNCIL
COMMENDING THE GREATER BAKERSFIELD CHAMBER OF
COMMERCE AND THOSE CITIZENS INVOLVED IN PRO-
JECT "B.I.G."
WHEREAS, the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce
has launched a major industrial development program for the en-
tire metropolitan area, which has been given the title - Project
"B.I.G." (Bakersfield Industrial Growth); and
WHEREAS, the local economy is generally healthy when
jobs are available and the tax base reasonable; and
WHEREAS, economic benefits of industrial expansion and
diversification are reflected throughout our community; and
WHEREAS, "B.I.G." will create a financial resource de-
signed to vastly increase and upgrade our industrial selling ef-
fort; and
WHEREAS, a special funding account will be admini-
stered by a group of prominent citizens appointed as trustees of
"B.I.G.";
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the City Council of the City
of Bakersfield, do hereby recognize and commend the Greater Bakers-
field Chamber of Commerce and allof the people involved in Pro-
ject "B.I.G." for their efforts to aid industrial growth with its
direct economic benefits to this area of Ker~ County;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this endeavor which is
being carried out by volunteer efforts in the best tradition of
our private enterprise system be supported by all citizens.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the-~oregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at
a regular meeting thereof, held on the 7th day of October, 1968,
by the following vote:
