HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 81-68RESOLUTION NO. 81-68 RESOLUTION OF'THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF' BAKERSFIELD ORDERING THE VACATION OF A .PORTION OF SONORA STREET NORTH' OF SUMNER STREET IN THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD. WHEREAS, on the 15th day of July, 1968, the Council of the City of'Bakersfield, pursuant to the provisions of.the "Street Vacation Act of 1941", being Division 9, Part 3, of the.Streets' and Highways Code of the State of California-, passed and adopted its Resolution of Intention No~ 833,· declaring its intention to order the vacation of a portion of Sonora Street north of Sumner Street, City of. Bakers field , California, and -' WHEREAS, said Council did fix a time'and place for hearing all'persons interested in Or objecting to said proposed· vacation, which said hearing was held on the 19th day of AUgust, 1968, after noti'ces were .duly'poSted as required by law, and WHEREAS, this-Council after duly considering the' matter, does h~eby find and reSOlve a.s follows: · 1. .That.' 'that portion of Sonora Street.n~th of Sumner Street, situate in the City of Bakersfield, County of Kern, State of California, more particularly described as follows,. is unnecessary for present or prospective public street.purposeS: Beginning'at the' southeast corner of Block 84 of East Bakersfield, formerly Sumner, as said. Block is shown on the "Map of the City of Bakersfield, Kern County, California" recorded January 12,.1889 in the office of the County Recorder of Kern County; THENCE (1) northeasterly, 88.84'feet along the easterly line of said Block 84, said line being also' the westerly line of Sonora Street of 80 feet in width to a point in a curve of 17,288.74-foot radius, said curve being the southerly right of way line..of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company mainline railroad; THENCE (2) southeasterly, along said curve. concave tO the northeast Sonora Street; THENCE (3) southwesterly, 82.96 feet along-the easterly line of said Sonora Street to apoint in the north. line of "I" Street (now Sumner Street) as shown on said map; THENCE (4) northwesterly, 80.00 feet along the northerly line of said "I" Street to the point of beginning for this description. RESERVING, therefrom~ t~e easterly forty'five'(45) feet of the herein. described parcel for the purpose of a publi'c.utilities easement. 2. That said portion'of Sonora Street north 0f Sumner Street be and the same is hereby closed up, vacated and abandoned for public street purposes, subject'to and in conformity with the reservations and exceptions contained in and contemplated by said ReSolution of Intention No. 833. Reference to said Resolution of Intention'is hereby. made' for further particulars. 3. The City Clerk shalllcertify to the passage of this Resolution and shall cause a certified copy hereof, attested by the Clerk under the seal of the.
