OF THE ' 'CITY OF BAKERSFIELD. : L . -WHEREAS, the Council of the City of~Bakersfield proposes 'to'submit certain amendments .to'the Charter of the City o!f Bakers- field to. the electors of said city, in'the.mapner require~.by Se.ction~.8 of Article XI of the constitution of-the State of Cali- fornia, at'a 'special municipal election tq..be held in the city of Bakersfield and to be'consolidated.:wi'th the. State. General Election to.be '.~id on the 5th day' 0f'November,'1968, and .~WHEREAS, the Charter Amendments so'propOsed 'to be submitted are' as fo~ioWs: Proposition No. 1 · ." That Sections.66, 145,, i47,'150, and 153 be amended.' '.. That Sections 146 and156 be ,- .."' Section 66. The mode of nomination ahdeledtion of all. elective'officers 0'f the.city shali"be as,pr6vided_'inthisarticle. Section 145. The Board'of EducatiOn shall' consist of fiver (5)members.~ Thereafter' memberS.of the'Board Of EdUcation'. shall be elected at the election to'be"held each odd-numbered' year. Members of the Board,o~ EduCation shall'be elected-by all .qualified registered electors of the'City of BakerSfi'eld and that por..tion of the Bakersfield Schoo~ Di'strict outside'of said city..~rrangements shall be made so that registered qualified -'I electors residing within the. limitS of'.the'BakerSfield School "'District and without the limits of .the City of Bakers field may vote · for such members of the Board Of Education'at.sUch e'tecti'on: Section 147. The members of:the Board of Educati'on first elec.ted under this charter shall, at their first meeting,:so- cl'assify themselves by lot, that two shall serve for two. yearS and 'three for four years. Section 1,50. The Board of Education sh~tl meet at SuCh times as may be designated by resolution"of.said board. .Section 153. All meetings 'of the Board of Education shall be public, except as otherwise provided in the Government and' Educati'on Codes. Pr6pssieio~ No. 2 That Sections '165, 166, 167, 171~ 1.72, i73; 174, 203, 204, and 238 be repealed.
