RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD APPROVING AND SUBMITTING A
REQUEST FOR STATE ALLOCATION THROUGH THE
CROSSING PROTECTION FUND FOR AUTOMATIC
SIGNAL DEVICES AT THE CROSSING OF SOUTH "H"
STREET AND THE BUTTONWILLOW BRANCH OF THE
SOUTHERN PACIFIC RAILROAD, CROSSING NO. BT-318.2.
WHEREAS, the Statutes of 1953, Chapter 1739, provide that
the State may by appropriation pay up to twenty-five percent (25%)
of the cost of construction of automatic signal equipment at
railroad crossings; and
WHEREAS, there is a necessity of automatic signal equip-
ment at the South "H" Street crossing of the Buttonwillow Branch
at the Southern Pacific Railroad, Crossing No. BT-318.2.
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield desires to avail itself
of the financial assistance as set out in the Statutes of 1953,
at Chapter 1739;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the request for state
allocation of funds through the Crossing Protection Fund for
automatic signal devices at the crossing of South "H" Street and
the Buttonwillow Branch of the Southern Pacific Railroad, Crossing
No. BT-318.2 is hereby approved, the Mayor is authorized to
execute the same, and the Director of Public Works is directed to
submit said request to the Public Utilities Commission.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 1st day of July, 1968, by
the following vote:
