RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD CALLING FOR AN INVESTIGATION
BY THE APPROPRIATE ARM OF CONGRESS AS TO
THE SCOPE OF ACTIVITIES OF THE CALIFORNIA
RURAL LEGAL ASSISTANCE.
WHEREAS, the City Council has received requests to support
an investigation of the California Rural Legal Assistance, and
WHEREAS, the Council Governmental Efficiency and Personnel
Committee has held hearings relative to the activities of the
California Rural Legal Assistance, and
WHEREAS, the hearings developed that the scope of activity
of the California Rural Legal Assistance is subject to a great deal
of controversy, and
WHEREAS, the scope of the activities may be beyond that
which was intended.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Bakersfield that the appropriate arm of Congress investigate the
scope of activities of the California Rural Legal Assistance so
that it may be determined that the activities of the CLRA are proper
and as intended.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 13th day of November, 1967, by
the following vote:
