A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD HONORING JAMES BURKE AS 1984
OUTSTANDING CITIZEN OF THE YEAR.
WHEREAS, JAMES BURKE, a native of Bakersfield, has
contributed to our nation and to our community exemplary service,
patriotism and leadership; and
WHEREAS, each year the American Legion Post No. 26
designates an individual as Outstanding Citizen of the Year; and
WHEREAS, JAMES BURKE has been selected as the 1984 Out-
standing Citizen of the Year; and
WHEREAS, JAMES BURKE has exemplarily promoted the
American way of life and the finest principles of living in
Bakersfield; and
WHEREAS, City residents appreciate the benefit conferred
on our community by JAMES BURKE.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
City of Bakersfield that the City Council proudly joins American
Legion Post No. 26 in honoring JAMES BURKE as 1984 Outstanding
Citizen of the Year.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 2nd day of May, 1984, by the
