It is looking like the remodel work on the first floor of the Borton, Petrini and Conron building will be finished around the end of the calendar year. Human Resources will move over there and two new conference rooms will be available. 2. Enclosed is a status report of future North of the River (NOR) parks, according to a recent meeting between our staff and theirs. NOR will provide revised budgets and park amenity plans for parks currently under construction within the city (Ward 4) in approximately two weeks. 3. Enclosed is a letter from SMG giving notice that the Blitz 2008 season is being cancelled and that the organization will no longer be fielding a professional football team nor using the Rabobank Arena. 4. The Fall Festival will be taking place on October 27th and 28" in The Park at River Walk. There will be a walk/run between 8:30 am to 10:00 am on Saturday, followed by various entertainment, such as storybook land, costume contest, mobile stage entertainment, etc. Saturday and Sunday will also be full of activities such as crafts, games, face painting, and a maze. The activities will run between 8:30 am to 8:30 pm on Saturday, and 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Sunday. 5. The spray parks at Martin Luther King Jr., Planz, Wayside, Jefferson, and Beale will be closing for the season on Monday, October 8th. The weather temperatures are starting to stay cool where use of these facilities is minimal. These spray parks will be opening next spring when the warm weather returns. 6. 1 will be going on vacation from October 26th through November 5th — John Stinson will be in charge and there are no Council meetings during that period. 7. Enclosed is an event calendar prepared by Recreation and Parks for the month of October. 8. The Graffiti Unit statistics and Special Enforcement Unit's monthly report for September. 2007 are enclosed. 9. The Streets Division work schedule for the week of October 8" is enclosed. Estimated Budget*: $1.8 million Estimated Completion: The majority of the park will be completed by early November 2007, except for minimal tree planting which is scheduled for January 2008. San Lauren Park (8.1 acres) - 4100 Mohawk Street Proposed Improvements: Grading, irrigation, landscaping, utilities, restrooms, off-street parking, picnic facilities, playground, dog park, multi-use play court, security lights, walks, backstop, turf volleyball, trash enclosure, and associated improvements. Estimated Budget*: $1.4 million Estimated Completion: The majority of the park will be completed by early November 2007, except for minimal tree planting which is scheduled for Fall 2007. Polo Community Park (40.0 acres) - 11801 Noriega Road Proposed Improvements: Street improvements, grading, irrigation, landscaping, utilities, playground, off-street parking, picnic facilities, restrooms, multi-use play court, and security lights. Long-term plans include a community center (not included as part of this budget). Estimated Budget*: $6.0 million Estimated Completion: Currently in the design phase which will take a minimum of 6 - 8 months to complete. Construction expected to begin in Fall 2008. Long-term plans include a community center (not included as part of this budget). Estimated Budget: Unknown at this time. Currently, their non-City funding includes a budget of $200,000 for initial design work. Estimated Completion: Scheduled to be constructed after Polo Community Park; estimate a 2 - 4 year construction plan. *FY 2007108 budget numbers, however, the final budget is subject to revisions during the year as they do completion work and final improvements.
