coordinated effort to hold parents responsible for their neglectful and irresponsible acts of
parenting of current gang members.

COMMITTEE CO-CHAIR RUBIO ANNOUNCED THAT FULL FUNDING WAS RECEIVED FOR
THE NEXT YEAR OF PREVENTION, INTERVENTION AND SUPPRESSION PROGRAMS.
MAYOR HALL AND SHERIFF YOUNGBLOOD WERE INTRODUCED.

LILY ALVAREZ GAVE THE PRESENTATION.
MINDY ELBUM WITH KERN BRIDGES CASA DEL NIIVOS REPORTED ON THE
ADOLESCENT RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT PROGRAM AT THE FACILITY.
ED MOLINA WITH EBONY COUNSELING CENTER, REPORTED ON SUBSTANCE
ABUSE COUNSELING. A PARTICIPANT OF PROGRAM SPOKE OF HIS OWN
EXPERIENCE.
• Kern County General Services Department (Proposed Incentive Plan for Contractors
Employing At-Risk Individuals)
MATT PONTES INTRODUCED BOB TYNER OF WESTEC WHO SPOKE ON A
COMPANY PROGRAM.

COMMITTEE CO-CHAIR CARSON ENCOURAGED EVERYONE TO ATTEND A COMMUNITY
FORUM AT BEALE LIBRARY ON NOVEMBER 15, 2008.
COMMITTEE MEMBER MAGGARD ASKED FOR CONTINUED COMMUNITY INPUT.
AN UNIDENTIFIED SPEAKER ASKED FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT ASSISTANCE TO
ADDRESS CRIME AND TAGGING NEAR BERKSHIRE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
AN UNIDENTIFIED SPEAKER STATED THE NEED TO WORK CLOSER WITH SCHOOLS.
COMMITTEE CO-CHAIR RUBIO STATED THE NEED TO ADDRESS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.
THE 2009 CALENDAR OF COMMITTEE MEETINGS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED BY MAIL AND
E-MAIL.
