CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE
MEMORANDUM
July 7, 2006
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: Alan Tandy, City Manager P17 ,
SUBJECT: General Information ``
1. We received the enclosed letter from GSA giving lot size criteria and related
information. There are challenges, but staff is excited about taking it on in the new
format! We will meet as a staff, brainstorm alternates and respond to them,
probably pointing out that they can get a more prime location by going higher,
among other things.
2. The sale of the City farm has long been in a holding pattern. Prospective bidders
have indicated they need time to evaluate an ever-changing market. Waiting three
to six months appears to provide a better opportunity to maximize our sale
opportunities, rather than trying to proceed immediately. All good things take time!
3. As of this writing, we are still waiting to hear from the City of Shafter regarding the
proposed meeting to discuss water issues.
4. Please remember that the Legends of Motown will be playing at the Brighthouse
Networks Amphitheatre on Friday, July 21St. The concerts are in a great setting,
and the quality of each has been exceptional. The cost is only $10 per ticket. Tell
your friends and business associates.
5. We have received a couple of questions about the "windfall" property tax article
that appeared in the local paper this week. The adopted budget was based on the
numbers you read about, thus, there is not more money to us. It was all a part of
the budget package.
6. I will be taking vacation the weeks of July 24th through 28th and August 14th through
18th. John Stinson will be in charge for the week in July; Alan Christensen will be
in charge for the week in August.
7. Attached is a preliminary report on the results of the Fireworks Enforcement
Teams. A detailed report will be forthcoming as part of a previous Council referral.
