A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD URGING RESOLUTION OF THE KERN
COMMUNITY COLLEGE CRISIS.
WHEREAS, the California Community Colleges continue
to face a financial crisis of a serious magnitude; and
WHEREAS, immediate assistance is needed by the
Legislature to resolve the financial crisis; and
WHEREAS, the California Community Colleges recommend
a compromise solution to include the following components:
(a) Restoration of the base;
(b) The Governor's $50/30 fee proposal in some form;
(c) A ceiling on the fees for the remainder of the
Governor's term;
(d) A sunset clause at the end of a specified period
of time;
(e) A hold-harmless clause for ADA losses in 1983-84.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of
the City of Bakersfield support the compromise position and
encourage the Legislature to meet immediately to resolve the
California Community College financial crisis.

passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
