A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD AUTHORIZING CITY MANAGER TO
MAKE APPLICATION FOR BLOCK GRANT UNDER
ROBERTI-Z'BERG OPEN SPACE AND RECREATION
PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield has received notifica-
tion from the California Department of Parks and Recreation that
a block grant in the amount of SIX THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED AND
FORTY-TWO DOLLARS ($6,142.00) is available to the City under the
Roberti-Z'berg Open Space and Recreation Program; and
WHEREAS, such grant amount, together with local matching
funds in the amount of TWO THOUSAND AND FORTY-SEVEN DOLLARS
($2,047.00), is needed ~or and will be applied to lighting improve-
ments for energy conservation at w~rious public parks; and
WHEREAS, a resoIution from this Council authorizing an
application for the above-described block grant funds is required
for City participation in the program; and
WHEREAS, said application contains a certification that
the applicant wiI1 comply with all federal, state, and local
environmental, public health, reloeation~. affirmative action, and
clearinghouse requirements and alll other appropriate codes, laws
and regulations prior to the expenditure of the grant funds; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that the project is
categorically exempt from the provisions of the California
Environmental Quality Act since the replacement of existing
lighting systems will involve negligible or no expansion of
capacity.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
City of Bakersfield as follows:
The City Manager is hereby authorized to submit an
application for block grant funds under the Hoberti-Z'berg Open
Space and Recreation Program, as described hereinabove.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 9th day of November, 1983, by
