A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD DIRECTING THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO
PARTICIPATE WITH THE KERN COUNTY SHERIFF'S
OFFICE IN PLANNING A COMPUTERIZED RECORD AND
DISPATCH SYSTEM.
WHEREAS,
to keep voluminous
WHEREAS,
manually maintains
WHEREAS,
the Bakersfield Police Department is required
department records; and
the Bakersfield Police Department presently
and files all records; and
the present records maintenance system is time
consumin9 and costly; and
WHEREAS, the Bakersfield Police Department must receive
and dispatch emergency calls in a timely manner; and
WHEREAS, due to the increasing population in the City
of Bakersfield, record keeping and emergency calls will continue
to increase; and
WHEREAS, the Kern County Sheriff's Office is faced with
a similar situation and is therefore planning and implementing a
computerized police record and dispatch system; and
WHEREAS, the Kern County Sheriff's Office has invited
the City of Bakersfield to participate in the computerized system;
and
WHEREAS, joint participation in a computerized record
and dispatch system will result in more efficient and cost-effective
operation of County and City 9overnment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Chief of Police
is directed to participate with the Kern County Sheriff's Office
in the planning for the implementation of a computerized record
and dispatch system and to report to the City Council on the
proposed City participation in the project.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at
regular meeting thereof held on the 28th day of September, 1983,
