A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD SUPPORTING A CHESTER AVENUE BUS
TRANSIT WAY.
WHEREAS, the Golden Empire Transit (GET) Board of
Directors adopted a policy statement proposing a bus transit way
on Chester Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Bakersfield
has considered such action of the Golden Empire Transit Board of
Directors and the alternatives available; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has a number of concerns
relating to the responsibilities of Golden Empire Transit with
respect to the proposed bus transit way on Chester Avenue; and
WHEREAS, these concerns can be resolved through mutual
agreement between the City of Bakersfield and Golden Empire
Transit.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Bakersfield supports the Golden Empire Transit
Board of Directors' policy for a proposed Chester Avenue bus
transit way contingent upon the City of Bakersfield and Golden
Empire Transit entering into an agreement containing terms and
conditions acceptable to the City of Bakersfield.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Bakersfield desires that negotiations commence as soon
as possible for the preparation and execution of an agreement
between the City of Bakersfield and Golden Empire Transit.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 14th day of September, 1983,
