A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIl. OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR GRANT
FUNDS UNDER THE JOBS BILL, PUBLIC LAW 98-8.
WHERE&S, the President of the United States has signed the
Jobs Bill, Public Law 98-8, which provides funds to create jobs for the
unemployed and rehabilitate and improve public parks and other public-
owned or controlled lands; and
WHEREAS, The State Department of Forestry has been delegated
the responsibility for the administration of the nrogram, at the local level,
setting up necessary procedures iaoverninf: apnlication by local agencies
under the program; and
WHEREAS, said procedures established by the State Department
of Forestry require the applicant to certify by resolution authorizing the
City to enter into an agreement or contract to perform the work.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council hereby:
1. Approves the filing of an application for funcling under
the Jobs Bill, Public Law 98-8; and
2. Certifies that said agency understands the general
provisions of the agreement; and
3. Certifies that said agency understands the assurances and
certifications in the application; and
4. Appoints the City Manager as agent of the City to conduct
all negotiations, execute and submit all documents including but not limited
to applications, agreements, amendments, payment requests, and so on which
may be necessary for the completion of the aforementioned projects; and
5. Appoints Richard Oberholzer as legal counsel for said agency.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a meeting thereof
held on the 13th day of ,July 1983, by the following vote:
