A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD OPPOSING FEDERAL LEGISLATION TO
DIMINISH LOCAL CONTROL OF CABLE TELEVISION.
WHEREAS, federal legislation regarding cable television
service is under consideration; and
WHEREAS, local governmental entities have had the
authority and power to control local cable television operations;
and
WHEREAS, federal legislation could seriously diminish
and dilute local control over local cable television operations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
City of Bakersfield that the City Council is opposed to federal
legislation that will diminish local control, dilute the local
government's ability to protect the interests of its residents,
or impair the ability of local government to collect revenue from
cable television operation.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at
regular meeting thereof held on the 22nd day of June, 1983, by
