HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 60-83 RESOLUTION NO. 60-83 A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD OPPOSING SENATE BILL NO. 778 (MANDATORY BINDING ARBITRATION). WHEREAS, Senate Bill No. 778 would diminish the ability of cities to control economic terms and .conditions of employment of police officers and firefighters; and WHEREAS, Senate Bill No. 778 does not make any sub- stantial changes to existing law regarding strikes by police officers and firefighters; WHEREAS, Senate on economic issues; and WHEREAS, and Bill No. Senate Bill No. 778 requires binding arbitration 778 places in the hands of a State and WHEREAS, Senate Bill No. without modification of either the arbitrator the ability to control local budgetary matters; 778, which requires acceptance employer's or employee's last offer, could create the potential for an unfair result employer or employee. NOW, THEREFORE, City of Bakersfield that Senate Bill No. 778 and urges the State Senate to defeat Senate Bill No. 778.
