RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD APPROVING THE ISSUANCE OF
$6,130,000 DOWNTOWN BAKERSFIELD REDEVELOPMENT
PROJECT, TAX ALLOCATION BONDS, 1983 BY THE
CITY OF BAKERSFIELD REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY
PURSUANT TO SECTION 33445 OF THE HEALTH AND
SAFETY CODE
WHEREAS, Agency intends to construct certain public parking
facilities and to implement portions of the Downtown
Bakersfield Redevelopment Project Redevelopment Plan (the
"Facilities") within the Downtown Bakersfield Redevelopment
Project Area (the "Project Area"); and
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield Redevelopment Agency (the
"Agency") wishes to issue and sell tax allocation bonds in the
principal amount of $6,130,000 to provide funds to finance the
construction of the Facilities; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 35445 of the Health and Safety
Code of the State of California the Agency with the consent of
the City Council may construct buildings, facilities and
structures which are publicly owned; and
WHEREAS, this City Council has been presented with
information regarding the Facilities to be constructed and the
benefits to the Project Area and is fully advised in the
premises.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Bakersfield
hereby does find, determine, resolve and order, as follows:
SECTION 1. This City Council hereby finds and
determines (1) that such Facilities are of benefit to the
Project Area and (2) that no other reasonable means of
financing the Facilities are available to the community. This
City Council gives its consent to the Agency to construct the
Facilities, including the cost of the land and all
appurtenances and appurtenant work in connection therewith.
SECTION 2. The issuance of tax allocation bonds by the
Agency in the principal amount of $6,130,000 will assist said
Agency in accomplishing the redevelopment of the Project Area
to the overall betterment of the community and its residents.
SECTION 3. Pursuant to the provisions of Section 33640
of the Health and Safety Code of the State of California, the
issuance of such bonds in said principal amount, which bonds
will be designated "Downtown Bakersfield Redevelopment Project,
Tax Allocation Bonds, 1983," is approved.
