A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAKERSFIELD DECLARING CITY FLAG, FLOWER,
BIRD AND COLORS.
WHEREAS, the Bakersfield Beautification Committee
requested this Council consider adoption of a flag, a flower, a
bird, and colors for the City of Bakersfield; and
WHEREAS, the matter was referred to the Budget Review
and Finance Committee for study and recommendation; and
WHEREAS, that Committee submitted its Report No. 5-83
to the Council on February 2, 1983, and a public hearing on the
matter was held on March 9, 1983.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
City of Bakersfield as follows:
1. The City flag shall consist of the City Seal in the
center of a white background, the Seal being edged in gold with a
blue center and the white background being trimmed with gold
along all four sides.

The City bird shall be the Western Robin.
The City colors shall be blue and gold.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
re§ular meeting thereof held on the 9th day of March, 1983, by the
following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Barton, Christensen, Means, Payne,
Ratty, Rockoff, Strong
Noes: None
Absent: None
Abstaining: None
