ORDINANCE NO. 4 5 7 2
ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3.40.120 OF THE
BAKERSFIELD MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO
TRANSIENT LODGING TAX.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows:
SECTION 1.
Section 3.40.120 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code is hereby amended to read
as follows:
3.40.120 Exemptions.
A. No tax shall be payable under this chapter on room rental paid to any
hospital, medical clinic, convalescent home or home for aged people.
B. No tax shall be payable under this chapter on room rental if it is paid for
directly by the federal government or a federal instrumentality of the U.S. Government
and if the transient provides the following upon check in:
1. A completed exemption form provided by the City Treasurer's Office;
2. Photo identification;
3. Proof of government employment;
4. Travel orders on federal agency letterhead stating that the individual is on official
business for the government and the dates of stay.
A copy of all four of the documents listed above must be included with the Hotel
Transient Lodging Tax Return in order to claim the exemption.
SECTION 2.
This Ordinance shall be posted in accordance with the provisions of the
Bakersfield Municipal Code and shall become effective thirty (30) days from and after
the date of its passage.
