A RESOLUTION DECLARING REAL PROPERTY
SURPLUS TO THE NEEDS OF THE CITY AND
AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO
NEGOTIATE ITS SALE
WHEREAS, the City owns a fee simple interest in property east of the Kern
Island Canal between 19th and 21St Streets; and,
WHEREAS, United States of America, acting through their General Services
Administration has requested the City donate this property located at 510 19th Street,
legally described on Exhibit "A" attached hereto, to facilitate the construction of a new
federal courthouse.
WHEREAS, the Bakersfield Planning Department found the sale of this property
to be consistent with the Metropolitan Bakersfield 2010 General Plan pursuant to
Government Code Section 65402.
WHEREAS, Bakersfield Municipal Code 3.20.125 authorizes the negotiated sale
of City property deemed to be "surplus".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Bakersfield as follows:
1. The foregoing findings and recitals are true, correct, and incorporated
herein.
2. Real Property located at 510 is hereby declared surplus to the City's needs
and the Finance Director is authorized to negotiate its sale.

LEGAL DESCRIPTION FOR
FEDERAL COURTHOUSE SITE
AT CENTRAL PARK
All that portion of real property in the Northeast'/4 of Section 30, Township 29 S. Range
28 E, in the City of Bakersfield, County of Kern, State of California, more particularly
described as follows:
Beginning at a point on the northerly line of 19th Street as delineated on the map entitled
"Map of Bakersfield, Kern County, Cal.", filed in the office of the County Recorder of
said Kern County August 17, 1875, said point being 437.67 feet easterly of the southwest
corner of Block 225 of said map;
Thence North 27°05'53" East 164.24 feet;
Thence North 25°24'45" East 344.32 feet;
Thence North 23°11'27" East 166.97 feet to the southerly line of 21St Street as delineated
on said map;
Thence North 90°00'00" East 132.44 feet along said southerly line of 21St Street to the
northwest corner of the parcel of land conveyed to Time-Life Broadcast, Inc. a Colorado
Corporation by deed recorded February 1, 1965 in Book 3810, Page 134 of Official
Records of said Kern County;
Thence South 16°57' 13" West 155.36 feet along westerly line of said parcel to the
southwesterly corner thereof, also being the northwesterly corner of the parcel of land
conveyed to California Water Service Co. by deed recorded November 6, 1951 in Book
1864, Page 225;
Thence South 15°47'25" West 120.03 feet along the westerly line of said California
Water Service Co. parcel to the southwesterly corner thereof being a point on the
northerly line of 20th Street as delineated on said Map of Bakersfield;
Thence South 20°18'44" West 87.97 feet to the northwesterly corner of the parcel of land
conveyed to Giol Tran and Julie Pham by Grant Deed Document 0205166774 recorded
June 29, 2005, thence along the westerly line of said parcel through the following
courses;
(1) Thence South 22°17'25" West 124.88 feet;
(2) Thence South 18°29' 10" West 34.81 feet;

Bakersfield, said point being 657.24 feet distant westerly from the southeast corner of
Block 222 of the Godey Tract, as per map recorded in said County in Book 1, Page 33 of
Maps;
Thence North 89°59'54" West 209.08 feet along the northerly line of 19th Street to the
Point of Beginning.
Containing 2.42 Acres more or less.
