JONATHAN WEBSTER, PRESIDENT AND CO-FOUNDER OF NATIONAL BROTHERHOOD
ASSOCIATION OF KERN, MADE ORAL PRESENTATION.
4. Update of the Kern County Gang Violence Strategic Plan
SUPERVISOR RUBIO THANKED THE MANY COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND
CONSTITUENTS WHO PROVIDED COMMENTS OR SUGGESTIONS FOR THIS STRATEGIC
PLAN REVISION. ALSO, COMMUNITY PARTNERS,AGENCIES AND DEPARTMENTS IN
THE CITY,COUNTY AND COMMUNITY WHO PRESENTED UPDATED STATISTICS AND
INFORMATION TO BE INCLUDED IN THE UPDATED STRATEGIC PLAN WERE THANKED.
SUPERVISOR RUBIO REVIEWED THE UPDATED DRAFT OF THE KERN COUNTY GANG
VIOLENCE STRATEGIC PLAN. HE SOLICITED ANY FINAL SUGGESTIONS FROM BOTH
COMMITTEE MEMBERS AND THE COMMUNITY.
COMMITTEE MEMBERS DISCUSSED BUDGET DIFFICULTIES, INTERACTIONS WITH
SCHOOL DISTRICTS, ROOT CAUSES OF GANG VIOLENCE AND NEED FOR ONGOING
FOCUS ON GANG PREVENTION AND INTERVENTION EFFORTS AS WELL AS
SUPPRESSION. ATTENDEES MENTIONED NEEDS INCLUDING SUSTAINABILIT

EFFORTS, ON-THE-STREET INTERVENTIONS IN AFFECTED NEIGHBORHOODS
MENTORING FOR 18 -24 YEAR OLDS AND FRONT LINE/CONFLICT RESOLUTION
RESPONSE FROM APPLICABLE COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS .
