HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 113-09 RESOLUTION NO. 113- 09 RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT CERTAIN MOTOROLA RADIO EQUIPMENT CANNOT BE OBTAINED THROUGH THE USUAL BIDDING PROCEDURES AND AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO DISPENSE WITH BIDDING THEREFORE, NOT TO EXCEED $125,000 WHEREAS, the CITY of Bakersfield is in need of replacement radio infrastructure equipment; and WHEREAS, the CITY currently uses Motorola radio equipment exclusively for Police, Fire, and Public Works Departments because of their excellent track record and acceptance as a standard within the City of Bakersfield; and WHEREAS, the CITY is obligated by Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules to operate narrowband channels by December 31, 2012; and WHEREAS, compatible radio equipment is only available from Motorola Communications, Inc; and WHEREAS, the Finance Director recommends the Council find said Motorola radio equipment can only be reasonably obtained from Motorola Communications, Inc. and because of restricted availability and the need to integrate the product into an existing City system, recommends that the Council dispense with the bidding, in accordance with subsection D.2 of Section 3.20.060 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: 1. The above-recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by reference. 2. The Council hereby finds that the purchase of the portable equipment can only be reasonably obtained from one vendor (Motorola Communications, Inc) because of the restricted availability of such equipment and because of the necessity to successfully integrate such equipment into the existing City system. 3.
