HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009_09_30_09_suspicious subjects annoying children BAKERSFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE William Rector, Chief of Police ________________________________________________________________________ Contact: Detective Mary DeGeare Public Information Officer 661-326-3803 mdegeare@Bakersfieldpd.us For Immediate Release September 30, 2009 Suspicious Circumstances/Annoying Children The Bakersfield Police Department is requesting the community’s assistance in identifying and locating two subjects involved in a suspicious incident involving two young boys, ages 10 and 11, who were walking home from school on Monday, September 28, 2009, at about 3:00p.m. The boys reported that while walking in the 4100 block of Amherst Forest Road they were approached by two men who were occupying a van. One of the men told the boys he lost his dog and said he would pay them if they helped him look for the dog, and if they got into the van, he would show them a picture of the dog. The boys ran away from the men and approached a nearby residence and the men got out of the van and approached the yard. One of the men asked the boys if their parents were home and then offered cleaning the carpets in their home for free. One of the boys took out his cellular phone and acted as if he was calling the police and the suspects entered the van and drove away. The subjects were described as a Hispanic male approximately 40 years old, and a White male, approximately 20 years old, 5’8” tall, medium build, wearing a multi colored t-shirt. The vehicle was described as a tan, late 90s, GMC van with green tint on the side windows.
