Information Officer 661-326-3803 mdegeare@Bakersfieldpd.us For Immediate Release On Saturday, October 24, 2009 the Bakersfield Police Department Traffic Enforcement Detail conducted
a DUI /Drivers License Checkpoint in the 2300 block of California Avenue between the hours of 5:00 PM and 1:00 AM. As a result of this enforcement event a total of 1786 vehicles passed
through the checkpoint; 1198 of those vehicles were screened by officers; 58 vehicles were impounded; 45 motorists were issued citations for unlicensed driver; 10 motorists were issued
citations for driving on a suspended/revoked drivers license; 9 motorists were issued citations for miscellaneous vehicle code violations; 11 motorists were asked to perform field sobriety
tests to determine their level of intoxication; of the 11 motorists asked to perform these test, two (2) were subsequently arrested and charged with DUI. Two (2) motorists were found
to have outstanding warrants for their arrest. One of those discovered to have an outstanding arrest warrant was positively identified by the portable Cogent fingerprint ID system after
providing a false name to officers.
