Information Officer 661-326-3803 mdegeare@Bakersfieldpd.us For Immediate Release Thursday, November 19, 2009 During the week of November 16th, 2009, the Kern County Grand Jury delivered
a twenty-eight count indictment charging Kerry Hastings, age 23, and Markisha Ann Williams, age 24, both of Bakersfield, with numerous charges of gangrelated crimes, including crimes
of violence and weapons charges. Both Hastings and Williams have been indicted for the murder of Leonard Banks in the 2700 block of Fairview Road in September 2006. In addition, Hastings
is charged with the murder of Ernest Kerr Jr. in the 1500 block of Cottonwood Road in July 2007 and the murder of Anthony Daniels in the 1300 block of Reese Street in June 2009. Hastings
and Williams were previously arrested on unrelated charges and will remain in the Kern County Jail pending arraignment on the current charges. This indictment is the result of a lengthy
investigation that was a joint effort of the Bakersfield Police Department, Kern County Sheriff’s Office, and the Office of the Kern County District Attorney. ###
