5. HEARINGS
A. Noticed Public Hearing to receive input on the City of Bakersfield 2005 Urban Water
Management Plan for the Domestic Water System.
Florn Core, Water Resources Manager stated public comment will be received on
the updated 2005 Urban Water Management Plan. The plan is normally due to the
State of California Department of Water Resources every 5 years, in years that
end in zero and five. However, if substantial changes have occurred or potential
substantial changes have occurred in the domestic water system the can plan can
be update. There are several large tracts of land that have potential to be
developed into the City's domestic water system. Staff determined it would be
prudent to bring the City's plan up to date to cover these potential properties. It's
important to note that this plan only covers the City's water system in the
southwest part of Bakersfield. It is a plan to look to the future to see where
potential water sources are. It does not follow under CEQA guidelines. A water
supply assessment, a separate document for each site plan is under the CEQA
Act. A chronology of what has been done to get this plan out to the public for
review is as follows:
May 30, 2007 - Mailed notices to the affected and interested parties. This
includes Kern Delta Water System Water District, Rosedale Rio-Bravo Water
Storage District, Kern County Water Agency, Kern Water Bank Authority, County
of Kern Planning Department, California Water Service Company and City of
Bakersfield Planning Department.
