BAKERSFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE William Rector, Chief of Police ________________________________________________________________________ Contact: Sergeant Mary DeGeare Public
Information Officer 661-326-3803 mdegeare@Bakersfieldpd.us For Immediate Release December 21, 2009 The Secret Witness Program is offering a reward of up to $3000.00 for information that
leads to an arrest in the following hit and run being investigated by the Bakersfield Police Department. On Friday, December 18, at about 11:33 p.m., motorists traveling in the 1000
block of East Truxtun Avenue discovered Yolanda Sue Gonzales 49 lying in the roadway with major injuries. Gonzales was transported to Kern Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased.
Although the driver involved fled; evidence at the scene lead investigators to believe that the suspect vehicle is white with a lowered profile due to the height of the injuries to the
victim relative to ground level. Anyone with information regarding the accident is encouraged encouraged to call Officer Lazenby at 326-3967 or Secret Witness at 322-4040. The Secret
Witness phone line operates 24 hours a day. Secrecy is guaranteed to those who call. Callers who reach a recorded message are urged to call again. A code name and number will be given
each caller. The code name of the responsible secret witness will be published. He or she should then call the Secret Witness line, give the code number and make arrangements for collecting
the reward. Secret Witness is operated under the direction of an independent, voluntary board of directors representing civic organizations, law enforcement agencies, media outlets,
and corporate sponsors.
