HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010_04_15_BPD Dispatcher of the year 2009 BAKERSFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE Greg Williamson, Chief of Police In conjunction with National Telecommunicator week, the Bakersfield Police Department is proud to announce our Dispatcher of the Year, Leslie Alvarez. Leslie was selected for her outstanding performance during 2009. Leslie Alvarez has been with the Bakersfield Police Department since 2000 when she was hired as a clerk typist. In 2002, she was appointed Police Dispatcher I. In 2007, she was promoted to her current position as a Police Dispatcher II. Her duties include training new employees, as well as occasionally performing the duties of acting supervisor in the Bakersfield Police Communications Center. Leslie is recognized as one of the most composed dispatchers at this agency. She maintains a calm, focused demeanor at all times, even in the face of chaos. She is relied upon greatly by her coworkers because she is a helpful, caring individual who has a keen understanding of the duties of her position. Leslie strives to stay abreast of the various tools used in the Communications field and regularly assists others with understanding those tools and their use. Since she was appointed to the position of Police Dispatcher, Leslie has received 19 separate commendations for her performance. We congratulate her and thank her for her dedicated service to the Bakersfield Police Department and the citizens of the City of Bakersfield. National Telecommunicator week is April 12-18, 2010.
