On Saturday May 8, 2010, at about 8:28 p.m., officers of the Bakersfield Police Department were dispatched to the 800 block of Union Avenue concerning a collision involving a vehicle versus a woman in a wheelchair. On arrival, officers located Guadalupe Delgadillo 46 who had been struck by a vehicle which fled the scene. Delgadillo sustained major injuries and was transported to Kern Medical Center where she later died. The involved vehicle was described by witnesses as a silver compact. Based on debris located at the scene the vehicle was determined to be a silver or grey 2001-2006 four door sedan similar to a Nissan. The vehicle had to have sustained moderate front end damage to the bumper and the grill and there should be damage to the lower left front (air dam) where fog lights are generally located. Anyone who may have information regarding this collision is asked to call the BPD Traffic Investigations Unit at 661-326-3967 or Secret Witness at 661-322-4040. The Secret Witness phone line operates 24 hours a day. Secrecy is guaranteed to those who call. Callers will be asked to select a code name and code number when they provide information to Secret Witness. Should additional contact with the caller be necessary, the code name will be published along with a request for the original caller to establish contact. Once contact is made, the caller will be asked to provide their original code number for verification purposes. The same steps will be taken to pay a reward to the caller. Secret Witness is operated under the direction of an independent, voluntary board of directors representing civic organizations, law enforcement agencies, media outlets, and corporate sponsors.
