'I D, as fo2.lows: That it is the intention of the Jouncil of the pity of Ba_ ersfield to order the closing of the following; described oortion of S Street; and that the lands included within tho boundaries of such portion as described, be abandoned; save and except the per- petur.l right and easement to use and enjoy any or all of the prop- erty described herein, for the ;ourpose of constructing, reconstruct- ing, installing, laying, maintaining or repai_^inF, the following: A se~,-er line and all of its component parts used or an- oared in --onnection tlere ith; .^lso any other instrumentalities of sanitation; also water pipes, fire hydrants and. arpliances for fire protection and all appurtenances thereto belonging; also water pipes and connections for the distribution of a domestic water supply; also any other public system or thing and all of its component parts which may be used and enjoyed in connection therewith, that the Oi.ty of Ba.l er sfield may des ire to place, or to have placed therein: That the following described portio.a of S Street be closed and Una land included within the boundaries of such portion as des- cribed be abandoned. That S Street between the northerly line of 17th Street and a line 115.5 feet northerly from and parallel with. the northerl;r line of 18th street be closed and the 1?rnds included w-'thin the boundaries of such portion as described be abandoned: (a) A strip of land 82.5 feet in width and 41.25 feet on either side of the center line of S Street and ex_end:i_nc, from the northerl,:- line of 17th Street to a line 12` feet northerl7r from and parallel therewith. (b) strip of land 82.5 feet in width and 41.25 feet on either side of the center line of , Street and ex' ending from the southerly line of l6th Street to a line 122 feet southerly from and parallel therewit.a. (c) strip of land 82.5 feet in width and 41.25 feet on either side of the center line of S Street and extending from the northerly line of 18th Street to a liile 115.5 feet northerly from and parallel therewith. Also - That the alley running easterly and westerly through Blocks 264 and 265, City of Bakersfield, be reduced from 33 feet to '0 feet. The lands necessary and convenient to be abandoned for said purpose areaescribed as follows; - (a) Beginning at a point in the easterly line of R Street 115.5 feet northerly from the northerly line of 17th <treet; thence easterly and parallel with the northerly line of 17th Street 264 feet; thence northerly and parallel with the easterly line of ,4 `street 6.5 feet; thence westerly and parallel with the northerly line of 17th Street to the easterly line of R Street; thence southerly along the easterly line of R Street 6.5 feet to the point of beginning. (b) Beginning at a point in the easterly line of R Street 115.5 feet southerly from the southerly line of 18th Street; thence easterly and parallel with the southerly line of 18t1 Street 264 feet; thence southerly and parallel with the easterly line of R Street 6.5 feet; thence westerly and parallel with the southerly line of 18th Street 264 feet to the easterly line of R street; thence northerly along the easterly line of R Street 6.5 feet to the point of beginning. (c) Beginning at a point in the easterly line of Block 264, Jity of Bakersfield, 115.5 feet northerly from the northerly line of 17th Street; thence westerly and parallel with the north.erly line of 17th Street 264 feet; thence northerly and parallel with the easterly line of said Block 264, amity of Bakersfield, 6.5 feet; thence east- erly and parallel with the northerly line of 17th Street 264 feet; -2- thence southerly along the easterly line of Block 264, City of Bakersfield 6.5 feet to the point of beginning. (d) Beginning at a point in the easterly line of Block 264, 'Jity of Bakersfield, 115.5 feet southerly from the southerly line of 18th Street; thence westerly and parallel with the southerly line of 18th Street 264 feet; thence southerly and parallel with he easterly line of Block 264, City of Bakersfield 6.5 feet; thence easterly and parallel with the southerly line of 18th Street 264 feet; thence northerly along the easterly line of Block 264, City of Bakersfield 6.5 feet to the pont of beginning. The streets and Block herein mentioned are as shown on that cert-in map entitled "Pap of the City of Bakersfield, Kern Jounty, California" filed in the office of t1ke County Recorder of Kern CountIT, California, November 25, 1898. All of the herein proposed work and improvement shall be done in pursuance of an act of the Legislature of the State of California, entitled "A;!
