HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010_07_22_Residential Burglary Arrests BAKERSFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE Greg Williamson, Chief of Police ________________________________________________________________________ Contact: Sergeant Mary DeGeare Public Information Officer 661-326-3803 mdegeare@Bakersfieldpd.us FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 22, 2010 On 07/22/10, about 8:44 a.m., patrol officers from the Bakersfield Police Department responded to a report of a possible burglary in progress in the 2700 block of Fountain Drive in northeast Bakersfield. The victim returned home and observed a vehicle she did not recognize parked in her driveway. She observed her front door partially open and noticed electronic equipment stacked in the entryway. She used her cellular telephone to report the information to the Bakersfield Police Department’s Communication Center. While calling the police department she maneuvered her vehicle in such a way that the suspect vehicle was blocked in the driveway. The suspects saw her and fled out the back door of the residence and over the back yard fence. Officer Glen Davis, who was responding to the call northbound on Sterling Road, observed the suspects running from the area. Officer Davis gave chase and directed responding patrol units to establish a perimeter. During a yard search in the 3800 block of Oregon Street, Senior Officer Sean Morphis, his Police K-9 “Max”, and Officer Davis located both suspects, one a 15 year old male juvenile and an 18 year old male identified as Adolfo Rivera. A witness positively identified the two suspects as being inside the victim’s residence and property taken from the burglary was located at the scene of the arrests. The suspect vehicle parked in front of the victim’s residence was determined to be vehicle which was reported stolen to the Bakersfield Police Department on 7/13/10 from the 3300 block of McCourry Street. Rivera was subsequently transported to the Kern County Jail Facility where he was booked on charges including; burglary, possession of stolen property, criminal conspiracy, and resisting arrest. The fifteen year old juvenile was placed into Juvenile Hall for the same charges.
