BAKERSFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE Greg Williamson, Chief of Police ________________________________________________________________________ Contact: Sergeant Mary DeGeare Public
Information Officer 661-326-3803 mdegeare@Bakersfieldpd.us FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 12, 2010 On 8/11/10, at about 2:00 p.m., Bakersfield Police detectives arrested Cecilio Vasquez
48 for multiple sexual assault charges. On 8/11/10, at about 1:40 a.m., a 16 year old male juvenile reported he was sexually assaulted in the area of Ming Avenue and Stine Road. Officers
made contact with the victim who reported he was contacted earlier in the 3900 block of Ming Avenue by whom he described as a Hispanic female forties, 5’8” tall, 230 pounds, having long
black hair and wearing all black clothing. The suspect provided the name “Sabrina” and indicated “she” was from San Diego. The victim reported the suspect asked him for directions and
asked him to walk with her. The victim accommodated the suspect who then reportedly produced a knife and forced him to walk to a secluded area wherein the suspect sexually assaulted
the victim, at which point the victim realized the suspect might actually be male. Investigators contacted Vasquez because he resides in the area and matched the description provided.
Vasquez was interviewed and determined to be responsible for the offense. After further investigation, Vasquez was also arrested for a prior offense reported in December 2009 in which
the circumstances and suspect description were similar. In this case, Vasquez portrayed himself as a female and the male victim was 13 years old. No weapon was used in this offense.
Investigators are still trying to locate an additional possible victim, an adult male, who reported similar circumstances in February, involving a similarly described suspect, in which
the suspect may have coerced the victim to participate in a sex act. Anyone with additional information related to any of these circumstances is encouraged to call Detective Alex Menendez
at 326-3559.
