RESOLUTION NO. 0 9 2- 10
A RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT THE DEPUTY FIRE
CHIEF ASSIGNED TO SPECIAL SERVICES OR THE CITY
MANAGER ARE APPOINTED AS AGENTS AUTHORIZED
TO EXECUTE ANY ACTIONS NECESSARY FOR THE
PURPOSE OF OBTAINING FEDERAL FINANCIAL
ASSISTANCE PROVIDED BY THE FEDERAL
DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY AND SUB-
GRANTED THROUGH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA.
WHEREAS, on December 8, 2009, the United States Department of Homeland
Security officially designated the Bakersfield Metropolitan Statistical Area as an Urban
Area Statistical Initiative (UASI); and,
WHEREAS, the UASI program is directed at improving homeland security
capabilities within high-risk, high-density urban areas; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield was designated the core city and will serve
as the chair of the UASI Grant Administrator; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield Fire Department was designated the Single
Point of Contact as per the UASI grant guidelines by the United States Department of
Homeland Security and the California Office of Homeland Security; and,
WHEREAS, the Deputy Fire Chief assigned to Special Services of the
Bakersfield Fire Department or the City Manager are hereby authorized to execute for
and on behalf of the named applicant, a public entity established under the laws of the
State of California, any actions necessary for the purpose of obtaining federal financial
assistance provided by the United States Department of Homeland Security and sub-
granted through the State of California.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Bakersfield as follows:
1. The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by
reference;
2. The Deputy Fire Chief assigned to Special Services or the City Manager
are hereby authorized to execute for and on behalf of the City of Bakersfield, a public
entity established under the laws of the State of California, any actions necessary for
the purpose of obtaining grant financial assistance provided by United States
Department of Homeland Security Urban Area Security Initiative.
