A RESOLUTION APPROVING EMERGENCY
OPERATIONS PLAN
WHEREAS, Bakersfield Municipal Code Chapter 2.40 authorizes the
Bakersfield Disaster Council to develop a City emergency plan to take effect upon
adoption by resolution of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Bakersfield formally adopted an
Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) in November, 1996 and an updated version in
December, 1999 (Resolution 180-99) and;
WHEREAS, the Emergency Operations Plan requires another revision in order
to be in compliance with California's Standardized Emergency Management System
(SEMS) and the National Incident Management System (NIMS).
WHEREAS, the revision is based on guidance by California Emergency
Management Agency (Cal EMA), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
and Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
WHEREAS, upon adoption, this plan becomes an extension of the State of
California Emergency Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
1. The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by
reference;
2. The Emergency Operations Plan (revised May, 2010) on file with the
Bakersfield City Clerk is hereby adopted.
