The lone male being chased jumped into the back of the City truck and picked up a shovel to defend himself. One of the Hispanic males within the group pulled out a hand gun and fired multiple times toward the lone teen striking the City truck. The City Parks employees ducked down in the cab and avoided injury. The lone teen, apparently uninjured, jumped out of the truck and ran northbound along the railroad tracks. The larger group ran south along the railroad tracks. The group of suspects was described as 4-5 Hispanic males and one Black male, all in their mid to late teens. The Police Department is working in conjunction with South High School and the Kern High School District Police Department because of the time of day, age of the involved parties and the proximity to the school. Anyone with information regarding this offense is urged to call the Bakersfield Police Department at 327-7111.
