HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010_09_22_Bradley Homicide BAKERSFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE Greg Williamson, Chief of Police Contact: Sergeant Mary DeGeare Public Information Officer 661-326-3803 mdegeare@Bakersfieldpd.us FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 23, 2010 On 9/23/10, at about 1:55 p.m., the Bakersfield Police Department arrested Tokunbo Okuwoga at the Amtrak Station on Truxtun Avenue. Investigators received information that Okuwoga was on a train from Fresno to Bakersfield and scheduled to board a bus to Los Angeles and then continue on to San Diego. Officers surrounded the train station and evacuated the Amtrak bus Okuwoga was scheduled to board. The train arrived at 1:53 p.m., and Okuwoga exited the train and walked to the bus where an arrest team, including SWAT personnel, was staged to contact him. As Okuwoga was about to board the bus, the arrest team alerted him to their presence and he was ordered to the ground. Okuwoga immediately complied and was arrested without incident. Second Release September 23, 2010 Investigators have determined the following suspect to be responsible for the double murder and attempt murder at 2008 Bradley Avenue: Tokunbo Okuwoga, Black male 21, 6’2” tall, 220 pounds, black hair, brown eyes. Okuwoga is wanted for 2 counts murder, attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, attempted robbery and burglary. Scroll down… Original Release September 22, 2010 On 9/22/10, at 2:31 a.m., Bakersfield Police responded to a report of three victims of gunshot wounds at 2008 Bradley Avenue. Police located a 22 year old male and female deceased, and an unconscious 43 year old male victim of a gunshot wound, all inside the residence. Also inside, were two females ages 3 and 4, who were both unharmed. All three victims and the children were the residents there. The victims were discovered by family members after the five year old phoned the parents of the female victim and informed them that the victims were deceased. Once family members arrived they called the police. There was an indoor marijuana grow located within the garage and the plants were seized, however it is not known at this point whether the marijuana is connected to the murder. Investigators believe the motive for the murder is robbery. The investigation is continuing. The murder victims in this case were identified by the Coroner’s Office as Felipe Bravo Jr. and Daina Caraveo, both 22 of Bakersfield. The surviving victim is Felipe Palacios Bravo 43.
