Information Officer 661-326-3803 mdegeare@Bakersfieldpd.us FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 19, 2010 On 10/19/10, at 11:35 a.m., a citizen reported a residential burglary in progress in
the 3800 block of Windflower Avenue indicating three Black male suspects forced entry to the house and were leaving with a big screen television. The witness described the suspects as
occupying a possible Chevrolet pickup with a grey hood, brown doors and a white bed. Sergeant Jack Smith spotted the truck traveling eastbound on Pacheco Road near south H Street while
responding to the call. Sergeant Smith attempted to stop the truck but the driver led him and other officers on a short pursuit to the area of Marcy Street and Fairview Road where all
three suspects got out and ran. The abandoned truck was still in gear and crashed into the fence at 5700 Alberta Street. The driver of the truck ran east into the neighborhood, and the
passengers ran west. Officers set a perimeter around a residence in the 5500 block of Nicholas Street where the driver was seen to flee, and he surrendered to officers without incident.
The officers maintained a larger perimeter, in an attempt to locate the remaining suspects, and a short time later the passenger suspects were located in a garage in the 2200 block of
Fairview Road. One suspect resisted arrest and sustained a Police K9 bite and the other suspect was arrested without incident. The suspects are identified as follows: The driver, Johnathan
Knight 21, was arrested for burglary, possession of stolen property, resisting arrest and evading. The passengers, Tyron Blount 19 and Jeremy King 18, were arrested for burglary, possession
of stolen property and resisting arrest.
