There were 22 homicides from January – June 2010 compared to 16 for the same time period in 2009. 7 of the 22 homicides were gang related. The number of gang related shootings decreased by six, from 46 in 2009 to 40 in 2010. The number of sexual assaults (rape/attempted rapes) dropped from 41 in 2009 to 29 in 2010. Robberies overall decreased by 7.1%. Aggravated Assaults increased by 15.6%. Property crimes such as burglary, larceny and auto theft saw a decrease as a whole. Although Larceny reports decreased by 8.3%, Burglaries increased by 6.8% and Auto Thefts increased by 8.1%. Refer to attached file for a breakdown of the numbers by month and case clearance rates. ###
