HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011_11_13_Residential Robbery Arrests BAKERSFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE Greg Williamson, Chief of Police _______________________________________________________________________ Contact: Sergeant Mary DeGeare Public Information Officer 661-326-3803 mdegeare@Bakersfieldpd.us RESIDENTIAL ROBBERRY ARREST November 13, 2010 On 11/12/10, at about 6:02 p.m., another residential robbery involving an elderly victim took place in northeast Bakersfield on Harpy Eagle Avenue. Patrol Officers Trefz and Gillespie arrived within a few minutes and located two suspects at Shiloh Ranch and Panorama Drive. These two suspects were in possession of evidence from that robbery. Through interviews and suspect information already gleaned from the residential robbery on Boise Street and the two residential robberies on Bucknell Street, Detectives Heredia and Madden were able to link the four robberies together and identify the suspects as being responsible for all four. Aaron John Najera 23 and a 17 year old male juvenile were arrested for all four robberies, conspiracy, assault with a deadly weapon, and elder abuse. ORIGINAL RELEASE November 5, 2010 The Bakersfield Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in locating suspects wanted for residential robbery and elder abuse. In the past month, three residential robberies have taken place in Northeast Bakersfield wherein the victims were 70-80 years old. On 10/3/10, at about 6:20 p.m., an elderly male resident residing on Boise Street was in his kitchen eating dinner when he observed a person in his back yard. He opened the door to investigate and a man pushed his way in. The victim tried to fight but he was overcome. The suspect forced the man into his bathroom while one or more suspects went through the home looking for valuables. The suspect/s took the victims green 2004 Honda Civic four door from the garage and left it at 34th Street and Claflin Avenue where it was recovered by police. The Honda Civic had a WWII Medal sticker on the bumper. On 10/31/10, at about 3:45 p.m., two suspects forced their way into an elderly man’s home on Bucknell Street. When the man tried to prevent the attack, one of the suspects cut him with a knife (Minor injury). Suspects in this case are described as a Hispanic male in his twenties with a thick accent, 5’9” tall, 125-130 pounds, wearing a grey shirt, black jeans and a scarf over his face and a Hispanic male, 5’9”-5’10” tall, thin build, long hair wearing dark clothing. On 11/2/10, at about 7:00p.m., two suspects forced their way into an elderly couple’s home also on Bucknell Street. When the male victim tried to prevent the attack he was beaten. Suspects are described as an unknown race male having a slim build, wearing a dark colored scarf over his face and a red sweat shirt and an unknown race male also wearing a scarf over his face and light colored pants.
