Officers located Darren Toles 28 suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the legs and upper body and Humberto Perdomo 64 suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. Investigation revealed a Black male 20s wearing a black shirt and blue jeans approached Toles, who was sitting near Perdomo on a railing in front of the market, and opened fire. The suspect was last seen running west on Casino Street toward Lotus Lane. Toles and Perdomo were not together and officers do not believe Perdomo was an intended target. Also struck and killed by the gunfire was a female Chow/Sheppard mix stray dog.
