HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010_12_15_Wanted for Attempt Murder_Witness ID BAKERSFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE Greg Williamson, Chief of Police ________________________________________________________________________ Contact: Sergeant Mary DeGeare Public Information Officer 661-326-3803 mdegeare@Bakersfieldpd.us FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE December 15, 2010 The Bakersfield Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in identifying a suspect in, and witnesses to, an attempted murder that occurred on 12/9/10, at approximately 9:00 p.m. in the Payless Market parking lot at 827 8th Street. The victim, Gilberto Sandoval 20, was standing in front of the market with several other subjects when he was approached by an unknown race male, 5’8”-5’9” tall, medium to heavy build, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and jeans. The suspect drew a hand gun and fired directly at Sandoval striking him numerous times in the upper body. The suspect then ran eastbound on 8th Street. Detectives are interested in speaking to witnesses who were not contacted at the scene which include a heavy set Hispanic male depicted in the attached surveillance video and photos and the occupants of a white or light colored GMC Jimmy or Chevrolet Blazer, also depicted in the video.
