Original Release January 23, 2011 On Sunday, January 23, 2011, at about 2:06 a.m., Bakersfield Police Officers were dispatched to a parking lot located at 1031 “19th” Street regarding reports of a male victim who had been intentionally chased and run over with a vehicle. The victim, Eleazar Godinez Torres, 29, sustained life threatening injuries, as a result of the assault, and was taken to KMC. Investigation, thus far, revealed the victim and his brother drove onto the parking lot to relieve themselves and stopped near the suspect vehicle which is described as a dark blue 1992-1999, Chevrolet or GMC 1500 or 2500, extended cab truck with minor to moderate front end damage and a broken window on the driver door. The victim and his brother were confronted by the suspect, whom they described as a Hispanic male, early 20’s, thin build. The suspect apparently noticed the driver side window of the truck was broken and believed the victim and his brother caused the damage. The initial confrontation quickly ended and the suspect entered truck and drove away. A short time later, the suspect returned and ran the truck into the victim’s parked vehicle then chased and ran over the victim, who was still standing in the parking lot. The suspect drove away eastbound on “19th” Street with the lights extinguished.
