Release February 22, 2011 The Bakersfield Police Department is asking Secret Witness, Code name "Susan" to call the investigator assigned to the case for which the information was provided.
"Susan" is asked to call Officer Pat Dillard at 496-5710. Secret Witness Release February 15, 2011 The Secret Witness Program is offering a reward of up to $5,000.00 for information
leading to the arrest and filing of a complaint against the person responsible for the fatal hit and run collision which took place on Tuesday, February 1st, 2011, at approximately 8:00
a.m., behind the Bakersfield Heart Hospital, 3001 Sillect Avenue. Sixteen year old Victoria Rose Peterson was walking to school when she was struck and killed by a slow moving vehicle
which was traveling eastbound on the access road behind the hospital. The suspect and vehicle then continued northbound towards Sillect Avenue after the collision. A witness described
the suspect and vehicle as a female with long, straight, dark hair driving a white, extended cab or quad cab full sized pickup with a black front grill and bumper. The police department
previously released attached surveillance videos depicting the vehicle traveling southbound to eastbound through the rear parking lot leading up to the intersection where Peterson was
struck and then continuing northeast behind the hospital after the collision. Anyone with information regarding this collision is encouraged to contact the Bakersfield Police Department
at 327-7111 or Secret Witness at 322-4040. The Secret Witness phone line operates 24 hours a day. Secrecy is guaranteed to those who call. Callers will be asked to select a code name
and code number when they provide information to Secret Witness. Should additional contact with the caller be necessary, the code name will be published along with a request for the
original caller to establish contact. Once contact is made, the caller will be asked to provide their original code number for verification purposes. The same steps will be taken to
pay a reward to the caller. Secret Witness is operated under the direction of an independent, voluntary board of directors representing civic organizations, law enforcement agencies,
media outlets, and corporate sponsors.
