A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE
BAKERSFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT (BPD) TO
ACCEPT FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF
$50,000.00, MADE AVAILABLE THROUGH THE
GRANT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (GAP) OF THE
CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF ALCOHOLIC
BEVERAGE CONTROL (ABC).
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield has received notification from the California
Department of Beverage Control (ABC) that a grant in the amount of $50,000.00 has been
awarded to the Bakersfield Police Department under the Grant Assistance Program (GAP);
and
WHEREAS, grant funds under the ABC GAP program will fund, in part, the joint
operations of the BPD / Kern County Sheriff's Office Joint Vice Task Force (JVTF) to
conduct undercover surveillances and investigations; and
WHEREAS, the ABC cannot execute Grant Contract # 11 G-LA03 fund this grant,
until it obtains a resolution of support from the Bakersfield City Council to participate in a
joint contractual agreement with the ABC,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Bakersfield
authorizes the City Manager, or his designee, to accept a $50,000 GAP grant from the
California Department of ABC and to approve Grant Contract #11 G-LA03.
NOW, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the BPD is hereby authorized and
empowered to execute in the name of the City of Bakersfield, all necessary, contracts,
payment requests, agreements and amendments thereto forthe purpose of securing grant
funds, implementing and carrying out the purposes specified in the grant, and drawing
down grant funds as necessary.
