A RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT THE TIMELY
REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT OF WATER PUMP
STATION CANNOT BE REASONABLY OBTAINED
THROUGH THE USUAL BIDDING PROCEDURES
AND AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR
TO DISPENSE WITH BIDDING THEREFOR AND
REQUEST WATER PUMP STATION REPAIR AND
REPLACEMENT SERVICES FROM KERN
SPRINKLER LANDSCAPING, INC, NOT TO
EXCEED $102,000.00.
WHEREAS, the City sustained vehicle damages to the water pump station,
consisting of a water pump, fire suppression system, and an irrigation controller, at
the Mesa Marin Sports Complex and is in need of temporary and permanent
emergency repairs; and
WHEREAS, the City contacted the original installer of the water pump station,
Kern Sprinkler Landscaping, Inc., to provide these emergency repair services; and
WHEREAS, the services to be provided by Kern Sprinkler Landscaping, Inc.
will restore the water pump station to the original working condition; and
WHEREAS, Kern Sprinkler Landscaping, Inc.'s water pump repair services are
not part of the annual contract held with the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as
follows:
1. The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by
reference.
2. The Council hereby finds that the water pump station repair services for
the Mesa Marin Sports Complex can only be reasonably obtained from one vendor
(Kern Sprinkler Landscaping, Inc.) for the reasons set forth above.
3. The Finance Director is authorized to dispense with bidding in
accordance with Section 3.20.060 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code.
4. The expenditure of funds for said repair services shall not exceed
$102,000.00.

HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and
adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held
on August 17, 2011, by the following vote
